01The trade hasn’t moved in decades

Coloured stones are among the most valued things on earth, yet the way they trade hasn’t moved in decades. Prices are opaque. Provenance is recorded when someone bothers. Treatment, the thing that most determines a stone’s worth, often goes unmentioned until you ask. For a buyer in Sydney or London, real confidence has meant flying to the source or taking someone’s word for it.

02So we built the other thing

GemstoneX is trade-only: every supplier verified, every stone certified, every transaction documented and settled through regulated banking channels. We source, assess, cut and photograph to one standard, so a jeweller anywhere can judge a stone the way they would in hand. We’re not a dealer chasing your clients. We’re the layer underneath, built so the coloured gemstone market works the way the rest of the professional world already does.

03Closer to where the stones come from

We began with Colombian emeralds, the stones we know best, and we’re building the same infrastructure for coloured gemstones wherever they come from. Because we are Colombian as well as Australian, the people at the origin aren’t an abstraction to us. Shorten the chain, verify who’s in it, formalise what was informal, and value can sit closer to where the stones, and the skill to find them, come from.

How we work

From the mine to the market.

  1. 01
    Source at origin.
Stones sourced directly from vetted miners and suppliers in country.
  2. 02
    Authenticate and grade.
Each stone independently lab-certified for origin, treatment and quality.
  3. 03
    Verify and list.
Certification and provenance recorded, supplier de-identified, the stone listed with full proof.
  4. 04
    Handle logistics.
Export, insurance and tax managed across jurisdictions.
  5. 05
    Settle and deliver.
Purchase settled through escrow on regulated rails, funds released on confirmed delivery.
Certification & traceability

Proof travels with every stone.

Provenance is documented at source and recorded against each stone. Independent laboratories grade origin, treatment and quality. Suppliers stay de-identified, and settlement is held in escrow on regulated banking rails until delivery is confirmed.

Verified origin

Provenance established at source and documented against every stone before listing.

Lab-certified

Independent grading from recognised laboratories: GIA, GRS, SSEF, Gübelin, AGL, GGTL, CDTEK.

Suppliers de-identified

Buyers see the stone and its proof, never the seller. Identity stays hidden throughout.

Escrow settlement

Funds held in escrow on regulated banking rails, released on confirmed delivery only.
